Prairie Sharpening has an emphasis on quality and customer service, we believe in offering services and products for a fair price. We also work to meet, and even exceed, our clients’ needs as much as possible.

Our Services

Our shop offers professional sharpening services by route and mail-order to veterinarians and pet groomers.

Route & Mail Order

Free route pickup & delivery in Omaha, Lincoln & most of eastern/ central Nebraska. We also provide reinforced boxes for safe mail orders.

Our Shop

We sell new and refurbished equipment like clippers, clipper blades, shears, thinners, and knives.

Service Warranty

We warranty all our sharpening services. Our emphasis is on quality, customer service, and services and products for a fair price.

Our History

Prairie Sharpening began when Tony Polk first met Jim Wright. A Master Sharpener of almost 20 years, Wright was looking for a successor.

While Tony had some sharpening experience on his own equipment, it took mentoring and training from Jim, for Tony to learn the craft. These two still maintain a friendship and often work together on projects.

PS most recently purchased Hurt’s Sharpening. Roger Hurt has a background in tool and die making prior to his 15 years of sharpening experience.

Tony and Roger collaborate regularly, particularly for larger industrial clients like meat processors.

Our three main areas of specialty services include:

Animal grooming tools- shear & scissors sharpening, clipper blade sharpening, and clipper repair.
Restaurant knives- culinary knife blades for restaurants and home chefs.
Commercial accounts for meat processors and wood working.
